Our offerings are designed to showcase the breathtaking beauty of the Cascade foothills, the rugged charm of the Olympic Peninsula, and the serene alpine meadows of the North Cascades.

Choosing the right trail is crucial for an enjoyable experience. We categorize our trails by difficulty:

  • Easy: Suitable for beginners and families, often featuring flat terrain, well-maintained paths, and shorter distances (typically under 3 miles).
  • Moderate: Involves some elevation gain and uneven terrain, suitable for those with a reasonable level of fitness (typically 3-7 miles).
  • Strenuous: Requires good cardiovascular fitness and hiking experience, featuring significant elevation changes and potentially challenging footing (typically 7+ miles).

Each trail description on our website includes detailed information on distance, elevation gain, estimated time, terrain type, and points of interest. Our booking system also allows you to filter trails by your preferred difficulty level. If you're still unsure, our experienced guides are always happy to provide personalized recommendations based on your fitness and experience.

Proper preparation is key to a safe and comfortable day hike. We recommend the following:

  • Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots or shoes with good ankle support and traction.
  • Clothing: Layers are essential to adapt to changing weather conditions. Moisture-wicking base layers, an insulating mid-layer (like fleece), and a waterproof/windproof outer shell are ideal. Avoid cotton, which retains moisture.
  • Navigation: A map of the area and a compass, or a GPS device/smartphone with downloaded maps.
  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat with a brim.
  • Hydration: Plenty of water (at least 2 liters per person for a full day). Consider a water filter or purification tablets for longer hikes.
  • Nutrition: High-energy snacks like trail mix, energy bars, and fruit. A packed lunch for longer hikes.
  • First-Aid Kit: Including bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any personal medications.
  • Illumination: A headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries, even for day hikes, in case of unexpected delays.
  • Multi-tool or Knife: For various small tasks.
  • Fire Starter: Waterproof matches or a lighter, in case of emergencies.
  • Emergency Shelter: A lightweight emergency blanket or bivy sack.
